Image Quality in Gears of War 5
In Gears of War 5, the Xbox One X offers a range of improvements for image quality compared to previous titles in the series. The resolution is improved on all platforms, with 4K resolution being available on both the Pro and Ultimate editions. However, when comparing different platform versions of the game, it is clear that the Xbox One X offers the best image quality.
The improvement in resolution can be seen most clearly in close-up shots where textures are now more detailed and artefacts are reduced. This is particularly noticeable during combat where blood splatter and other graphical elements have been significantly enhanced. In addition to visual improvements, gamers can also expect increased performance when playing Gears of War 5 on an Xbox One X as frame-rates are now much smoother than before.

This is likely due to its older hardware – though there’s no denying that 4K gaming on an Xbox One S is still incredibly smooth.
PC meanwhile offers much more flexibility when it comes to graphics settings. In fact, we found that many scenes could be run at over 60 FPS with just basic graphical enhancements enabled – like higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing. This makes PC arguably the most powerful platform for Gears of War 5 – though it does come with a bit more Latency than either Xbox One SKU (around 78 ms vs 54 ms).
